Honor Your Body: Simple Recipes for Busy Parents
Boost Your Energy with Two Quick, Healthy Recipes
How Food Choices Fuel Self-Care for Parents
As parents, we need to be at our best.
That can be pretty hard when we’re juggling so much every day.
And I get it; when it comes to nourishing your body, it’s easy to reach for less-than-ideal options.
Between quick mornings, work deadlines, and after-school activities, it’s tempting to grab the fastest thing you can that might not be the healthiest choice. Or even do things like skip breakfast or settle for coffee as a meal so everyone can be out the door on time.
But before long, these choices take a toll on our energy and mood.
So here’s the thing I always come back to, and that’s when we nourish our bodies with intention, we feel energized, attentive, and focused on all the things our days have in store for us.
That’s why I’m also a big believer in the magic and power of mindful eating. What do I mean by that?
- Taking the time to prepare your food and pausing to appreciate what you’re making and eating.
- Allowing yourself a moment to sit and enjoy your food, even if it’s just five minutes. Focus on the taste and the nourishment it provides.
- Giving yourself the space and time to not only taste your food but also to reflect on your body’s needs and what you’re giving yourself.
By choosing meals that are as good for your body as they are for your mind and dropping into a place of gratitude while you’re enjoying them, you’re not just feeding yourself; you’re fueling the extraordinary life you lead as a parent.
Today, I’m sharing two delicious, simple, nourishing recipes that I prepare all the time. I’m so excited for you to try them.
The Happy Life System Body Pillar
Before we get to the recipes, I want to share some information here with you about one of the pillars in the __Happy Life System, __and that’s the Body Pillar. The focus here is that our bodies are everything. And without them, we wouldn’t get to experience all the beautiful things life has to offer.
That’s why it’s so important we honor our bodies and treat ourselves with love and respect. And this means being mindful about what we eat and how the foods we choose make us feel. Because each meal is an opportunity to nourish not just our bodies but our souls too.
So, the next time you’re thinking about what to eat, ask yourself, “Is this nourishing me in the way I deserve?” Because prioritizing self-care for parents is important. There is no greater parenting advice than reminding yourself that you’re important. When you do, your kids will lead happier, more abundant lives because you honor and love yourself.
